My English Setter, Ellie is a cancer survivor and "tripawd" since her amputation due to Osteosarcoma in July 2012. She has done remarkably well, all because of the care she has received at MAAH. Any time I have needed to have her or my Pug seen, it has always been the same day, working around my work hours. I have never been more satisfied with care for my pets and at reasonable cost. I owe a lot to Dr. Dhaliwal and his staff.

Early fall of 2014 my male Boxer, “Chachee” was diagnosed with a Perineal Hernia. A common condition I discovered that affects male dogs that are intact. It is a muscle tear near the rectal wall. I learned more about this condition when I went to Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital Website. At this site it goes into depth about this condition. I found this very helpful. I immediately made a call and arrange a consultation with Dr. Dhaliwal. I drove with Chachee from Farmington Hills to Ypsilanti the day after Thanksgiving. Dr. Dhaliwal was excellent explaining and sketching to me what actually happened with my Boxer. More importantly in the past year alone Dr. Dhaliwal performed eight Perineal Hernia surgeries.  After talking to him about the Art of Surgery, he explained each surgery is different.  Before a surgery begins, he mentally goes through all the steps. Dr. Dhaliwal shows great passion at his craft as a surgeon. Chachee also was fond of him as well. At this point I arranged to prepare him for his up and coming surgery. That day his team did the blood work and other tests to see if Chachee was healthy for this surgery.

We planned Chachee’s surgery during the school holiday break, since I am an educator. This way we could care for him post-op. Chachee had his surgery on a Friday, and picked him up at the hospital late Saturday afternoon. The operation went well. Dr. Dhaliwal repaired the muscle, and also castrated Chachee. On the third day I could see my dog acting normal and looking healthy.  He played with his toys even though he had a shield on. The following Saturday Chachee had a check-up with Dr. Dhaliwal. He checked his beautiful stitch work and was very happy of his progress on healing. A week later Chachee and I were back to remove his stitches.

Well, two weeks have past since Chachee’s stitches were removed and his shaved area is starting to grow his beautiful brindle coat. I decided to have Dr. Dhaliwal and his team for my veterinarian services. The drive for us to Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital is worth the professional surgical skills and great hospital facilities they have. I highly recommend them to my friends both human and four legged babies.

Our dog Bailey and his brother Midnight were original patients of Dr. Dhaliwal when he first opened his practice in Ypsilanti. We have moved around a bit in Michigan and now live in Brighton, however we are never too far to drive to seek care and services from Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital. I could share with you countless stories and positive experiences we have had with all of our dogs. each one unique in needs. However I will share with you a story of when it was time for Bailey to be put to sleep. He was battling kidney disease for 2 years under medical treatment and we knew that one day his body would be done and start to shut down. When it was time to say our good byes, Dr. Dhaliwal made us and Bailey a priority. His schedule was full and there was a business meeting he was attending in his office, he kept his meeting waiting to help us with our beloved Bailey. My husband and I know there are other qualified staff and vets in this office (we have seen them and used them) however it was the personal touch and need from Dr. Dhaliwal and his relationship with us and Bailey that stands out. He understood we were losing a family member and didn't let his business meeting or other important matters stand in the way of our emotional needs and time. He (like always) was very patient, calm and explained the procedure and helped us say good bye. This type of personal interaction and moving business needs does not happen in other offices, I am sure of it. His compassion and that of his staff were wonderful. His business meeting partners sat in his office and as we left, I saw them sitting there waiting. They too knew Dr. Dhaliwal was caring for his patients and they would have to wait. Incredible people, incredible office and services. Thank you for all that you do to take care of the Rian dogs (Midnight, Mocha, Woody & Stevie too). We appreciate you.
