Dr Ajaib Dhaliwal DVM


Dr. Ajaib S Dhaliwal, DVM completed his master’s degree with distinction from the College of Veterinary Sciences (GADVSU) in Punjab, India, where he joined the college faculty as an Assistant Professor for 5 years. Moving with his family to Canada, Dr. Dhaliwal received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The University of Guelph in 1997 and worked for 2 years in small animal practice in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

With interest to pursue a career in clinical practice in the USA, Dr. Dhaliwal joined the team at VCA as an Associate Veterinarian in 1999, leading preventative care, general medicine, dentistry, and surgical procedures for small animals.

His mission for clinical excellence led him to own a practice in Ypsilanti, Michigan in July 2003, which he has since expanded in size and services rendered. His team’s core ideology emphasizes the importance of compassionate care, excellent client service, blended with clinical excellence. Over the past 16 years, Dr. Dhaliwal has grown his team to open several other practices, offering a variety of services from general medicine to advanced soft tissue and reconstructive surgeries. He has very strong interest in orthopedic surgeries (fracture repairs, cruciate repairs (TPLO, TTA and MRIT), bone plating, luxating patella, etc), and has attended multiple courses and workshops in small animal fracture management.

He currently resides in the Metro-Detroit area with his wife, Swaran, daughter Divya, son Armaan, and their dog Bruno. Outside of his duties at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital, he enjoys reading, writing, and mentoring high school and college talent on the power of strength-based leadership development.

Dr Will Kieber DVM

Coming to Michigan from Vermont, Dr Will brought with him the hard work ethic and non-traditional life experiences that served well during years working as a skilled laborer/technician in a wide variety of fields. After numerous encounters with wild animals led him to consider becoming a veterinarian, he became a veterinary technician at Vermont Technical College and was able to continue the veterinary journey with schooling at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Will Kieber joined Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital team in January, 2016.  His current special interests in veterinary medicine include Ultrasonography, Neurology, Oncology, Exotics/Wildlife, and Internal Medicine.

Dr Will enjoys many activities such as playing music, painting, sculpting, reading, kayaking, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.

Dr. Sarahbeth Barlas, DVM

Dr. Sarahbeth Barlas, DVM completed her Bachelor of Science at Michigan State University Lyman Briggs College and her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Her professional interests include forming strong veterinarian-patient-client relationships, animal welfare education, and integrative medicine.  She has been developing a passion for ophthalmology, orthopedics, and preventative care, as well.  Dr. Barlas will be accepting dog and cat patients with plans to accept exotic pets in the future, including small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and pet-fish.  Her mission: to provide profound education before life, supply exceptional veterinary care during life, and assist in humane passing at end of life.  Dr. Barlas looks forward to being a lifelong member of your pet's health care team.

Manpreet (Goldy) Morton


Goldy Mortan BSC honors biology , DVM Candidate 2020, is currently doing an externship at Michigan Avenue hospital. Her tentative date for graduation is January 2020. She was born in Punjab, India.  She moved to Canada along with her family in 2003 when she was 10 years old. From a young age she was interested in working with animals and admired veterinary profession. She earned her BSC biology honors degree at University of Windsor. Furthermore, she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She attended pre-clinical studies at RUSVM (Ross University of Veterinary Medicine) and is currently finishing her clinical year at PUVTH, Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Additionally her hobbies include reading books, calligraphy and exercising. She has two pets, a dog named Bruno and a cat named Boo.  

Colleen Hall, Veterinary Technician

Colleen joined Michigan Ave Animal Hospital in May 2007 as a Veterinary Technician. She attended Macomb Community College and graduated with an associate in applied science. She has worked in the veterinary field for over 19 years. She enjoys gardening, shopping and spending time with her family and her 2 dogs Allie and Axle.

Melanie Stoddard, Veterinary Technician

Melanie Stoddard graduated from Wayne County Community College's Veterinary Technician program in 2003 . She has been a part of the MAAH team since August 2006.  Her pets currently consist of 1 dog ( pit bull mix) named Thor and 1 cat named Norman. 

Musaab (Moe) Attar, Veterinary Technician


Musaab (Moe) was born in Syria. He graduated as a Veterinarian from Baghdad University in 2000 and worked as an authorized Vet in Qatar at a quarantine facility, he also worked with zoo animal and exotics at the same time. He moved to the US in 2014 working as a Veterinary Technician in New Jersey. To continue his Journey moved to Michigan. 
He joined MAAH team as veterinary technician in October, 2016 and is currently working on becoming a licensed Veterinarian in the USA. He enjoys hiking, photography and reading.

Jessica Hall, Veterinary Technician


ssica joined MAAH in March, 2018 as a Technician. Jessica began her Veterinary career in 2002. She has worked in both emergency veterinary medicine and primary care with small animals and exotics. Patient care is number one to her!
Jessica enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband, Steven and step-daughter, Dallas. She shares her home with her 2 dogs, Lincoln (Australian Shepherd Cattle Dog mix) and Dobby (Chinese Crested), and 4 cats: Mamas, Malibu, Marrow and Sharkey. Jessica's passion is being able to care for and help not only cats and dogs, but exotics as well.

Stephanie Balmar, Veterinary Technician

Stephanie grew up in northern California where her love of animals began early in life.  Her childhood was spent caring for a variety of animals from cats and dogs to pigs, goats, horses and birds. Stephanie went on to receive her Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Yuba College. Stephanie started her career in the Veterinary field in 2002 working for several different types of hospitals in California ranging from General practice, Emergency, Specialty, and Fertility. From there she moved to Michigan in 2015 working as an Emergency/Trauma Technician in the ICU at Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital. After three years in Michigan Stephanie was introduced to the staff at Michigan Avenue Animal hospital in July 2018 and left emergency to join their team and be a part of their vision, “To provide the highest quality of veterinary care for pets.” When not at work, Stephanie can usually be found taking care of her own menagerie of animals which includes cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and whatever little creatures she can sneak in.

Saif Al-zubaidi, Veterinary Technician


Saif was born in Iraq. He graduated as a Veterinarian from Bagdad University in 2000. Thereafter he worked in a pharmaceutical research center and also worked as Veterinarian at Qurantine facility in Qatar. He migrated to USA in 2014 since then he has been working as a Veterinary Technician. He recently joined Michigan Avenue Animal hospital in May, 2019. Saif is very motivated and passionate about total preventive and medical care of pets and client education. He is presently working hard to get accreditation to become a Veterinarian in the USA. 

         Saif enjoy reading and traveling.  He and his beloved wife are proud parents of 3 boys and a wonderful daughter.

Olivia Tath, Receptionist


Hi my name is Olivia, I have been working with Dr. Dhaliwal at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital since 2008. Since I can remember I have always wanted to work with animals. For fun I go horseback riding, hiking, tubing, and camping. I have an amazing husband and two beautiful daughters, Madison who is 6 years old and Amelia who is 1 month. Our other children consist of a dog named Bruce, two cats Edward and Rose, two rats Borat and Ratatouille, and a pig named Pua. 

Jennifer LaRue, Receptionist

I have been with Michigan Ave Animal Hospital since March 2017, but have been working with animals well over ten years. I had my very first pet sitting job at seven years old and even worked at a zoo in NJ. During the course of my life I’ve had various pets including, dogs, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and or course cats.  It seems while working at Michigan Ave I have developed into quite the cat lady, our resident cat Adam has a way of helping with that. Naturally, if you have a cat staying with us, I am definatley giving them lots of attention.

Harmoni Pickering, Receptionist

Born and raised in a large family in Michigan. I could remember I have always known I wanted to work in any field that included animals. Working on a farm when I was younger solidified my passion for caring for and helping animals, but there was just an element missing from farm work that I found when I started working at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital in May of 2015. As a receptionist, I not only get to help facilitate in the healing and care of beloved pets, but I get to connect and build relationships with our amazing clients as well. 
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, which consists of my wonderful husband, our young son Jacob and our two dogs (Delta and Pheebi). Reading mystery and thriller books is another guilty pleasure of mine I try to squeeze in between work and kids.

Emily DePetro, Receptionist

I was born in Michigan but spent the majority of my life in southern California. My passion for animals led me to veterinary medicine where I've worked in emergency and preventive care. 
I joined Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital team in 2018. I'm currently in school to become a Veterinary Technician and I'm excited to continue compassionate care in that field. My fur family consists of a pomsky named Mya and three orange cats: Dewey, Oliver and Frankie. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, photography, and crafting. 

Alexis McCarver, Receptionist

Alexis started as a Receptionist with Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital in March 2019. She is currently in school as well to become a Veterinary Assistant with the goal of becoming a Veterinary Technician

Alicia Conner, Veterinary Assistant

Alicia started with Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant in 2017. She has been working in veterinary clinics since 2009. She has extensive experience with dogs, cats, and exotics; such as birds, reptiles, and rabbits. 
Alicia has gathered professional knowledge working with Nestle Purina specializing in pet food and pet nutrition.

Alicia is a proud owner of Lana, a Siberian Blanc Swiss Shepherd, and Sassafras, a Calico feline. 
She enjoys life on the lake, jet skiing, various music tastes, annual trips to the Kentucky Derby, and being a proud mother. Alicia hopes to broaden her future as a DVM in equine medicine.

Shanea Estes, Veterinary Assistant

Shanea Estes has two Bachelors degree’s (Biology and Animal Science) from NC State in Raleigh, NC. I started at a small animal practice in Harrisburg, NC where I learned one on one with great technicians and Veterinarians. I moved to Nashville, TN and worked for two high pace, multi-doctor, small animal veterinarian practices, both winning awards for top Veterinarians in Nashville in the recent past. I started my research career at Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN, working part time in veterinarian medicine, while simultaneously working towards a Masters degree from Vanderbilt University. I graduated with my Masters in May of 2018 from Vanderbilt, and shortly after moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to continue my research career.  I work in Lupus research at the University of Michigan full time and recently joined the team at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital part time to fuel my love for animals. I have a senior aged Bull Mastiff named Ripley.

Carrie Krasher, Professional Pet Stylist

Hello, my name is Carrie. I have been grooming for roughly 18 years now. I started working at Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital in January 2012. I am very passionate about my career, and enjoy the complexity of each and every task. I love that every day is different, and I am able to develop and grow a bond with each and every pet I groom. I groom both dogs and cats. I just love all of the creativeness I am able to share on a daily basis to help all of the animals to look and feel as fabulously beautiful as they are!
            In my spare time I love to spend time outdoors with my fur babies. I have 3 dogs of my own and 2 rescue kitties. We enjoy going for walks and playing in the backyard.  I also enjoy family time with my children and grandchildren. I also enjoy billiards.
            I believe my life is complete doing what I absolutely love to do, and spending my leisurely time with what I love most! Have an awesome day!
